"I wanted to thank you so much for the time and the Hypnobirthing materials. They were invaluable to me. I have a healthy baby girl, Jessica Emily, born at 10:20am on September 18th at 8lbs 4oz.

Because of you I was able to have the natural birth I wanted this time around. As you might remember I was induced with my first child and it was a horrible experience for me and I was very nervous this time around as they were talking about doing it again. But I found out it wasn't really necessary, (I was at 41 weeks) this time.

Labor was fast and my daughter was born after only 2 hours of laboring. (instead of 2 days like last time) I felt so much a part of the birth this time and was actually able to go home 12 hours after the birth. (I wanted to be home for my first child)

Thank you so much for your time and allowing this birth to be such a positive experience. I know I would recommend this to any pregnant friend in the future."

"The hypnobirthing was a great technique to have in my tool box, as I was in labor for 36 hours (without drugs!!!) and it played a big part of my making it that far! Unfortunately, I did need the doctors to step in and ended up having to have pitocin to move the process along. After 36 hours, I was still only dilated to 4cm!! So, I did end up with an epidural and then they broke my water, which they hoped to help me progress, but after several more hours it was clear that more drastic measures needed to be made, hence the pitocin, which jump started me to 10 cm in less than 1 hour. As much as I had hoped for a natural birth, it was clear that my body needed some help, and the priority was healthy baby/healthy mother! I am thrilled with the outcome of my experience, and would not have changed anything about my birthing experience."

"Thank you so much for all your help in preparing me for this birth. It was more like the first time I gave birth not like the second time at all. Everything flowed, just like in my first birth---all natural. My labor only lasted six hours. My husband and I used the Calm Birth CD everyday to prepare and together we did the womb-breathing at the hospital. I knew the meditation was the right one for me and it worked really well. Maybe you can come and meet all three of my children sometime soon. I will tell all my pregnant friends about your Birthing class---it works!"

Randy and I can't thank you enough for all the love and support you brought to our birth experience.   Your warm heart and way of communicating the right suggestion at the right time helped everything stay smooth. I am satisfied with everything that happened---you made me proud of myself.

Shelley is very respectful of the whole birth experience.

Shelley Campbell was my birth doula and she also helped me post partum for three weeks after the birth of my daughter, Grace.   I am a single mother and as I didn't have a partner my doctor recommended I get a doula for emotional support through the delivery.   Shelley and I became friends and we still stay in touch.

We became a team and she was with me all the way through.   I ended up asking for medication at 8 centimeters and the doctor said afterwards the baby would not have turned if I had not lasted that long and there was a good chance I may have had to have a C-section.   I would not have made it that far without Shelley's help and encouragement.   We tried different things until we developed a routine and then repeated it over and over. Ialso love the birth story Shelley wrote which I will keep in Grace's baby book.

I feel so privileged to have had your care and support throughout my pregnancy, as you are very skilled, professional, kind, and open-minded.... You've made a huge difference in my birth experience. Thank you for being there, guiding me through, and giving Monica a beautiful beginning.

Shelley was our post partum doula when we brought our newborn son home from the hospital.   Her warmth and laugh filled up the whole house.   The way she spoke to two day old Alex was filled with respect and gentleness as if to an individual human being and not a "baby".   She bonded with all of us. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her highly.

Shelley's hypnotherapy work with me was profoundly powerful and transformational.  She combines an easeful and natural mastery of technique with a deep intuitive listening as well as sensitive guidance that allowed me to enter and explore inner worlds and truths I would otherwise never have found.  Her ability to hold space for the wondrous to happen is an extraordinary gift, providing an essential foundation of trust upon which many miraculous insights and revelations can be birthed.

Shelley combines a lifelong interest in healthy, happy babies with her talents as a storyteller and spiritual seeker. She uses the power of trance, story and myth to "re-vision" the birthing experience.

She seeks to recall an earlier time when birthing was a shared transformative process for all the women of the tribe. Far from being an isolating and solitary experience, birthing recalled and strengthened shared female bonds. It invigorated a secret language that all women know instinctively. Birth was nothing less than the participation in and re-telling of the myth of birth and new life. It touched all the women of the tribe.

Shelley calls this mythmaking process the Birthing Circle and she sees it as a space for women to safely experience the power of trance, sharing and active imagination in a way that will help all participants to experience their birth process as an empowering and joyful time.

The birth of a child is one of life's most profound moments.   Naturally, the prospective mother and father want to ensure that those involved in the birthing process have the professional skills and personal qualities to make everything go smoothly.   Shelley Campbell is such a person.   She has a deep sense of the sacred, a compassionate heart, and a nurturing presence.   Her capacity to manage people and tend to myriad details stems from her work as a medical office manager and doctor's assistant.   As a life-long advocate for women and caretaker of infants and children, Shelley brings a host of practical skills to her work as a doula.   I recommend her without reservation.

During the course of some ten years I have grown to respect Shelley for her uncompromising integrity, compassion and keen, multi-faceted intelligence.   Again and again, I have benefited from her deep insights and tactful candor on all personal issues that I have sought her counsel on.   She has an enormous breadth of understanding, gleaning as easily from mystical world traditions as from socio-political theory, literature and psychology.   Most importantly, Shelley is the kind of person who faces challenge, and even tragedy, with an extraordinary "openheartedness" and grace.   There is no quality that I respect more than that.   She is a huge blessing in my life.

If you have one person in life with whom you can share anything, someone that no problem or complexity you might have could overwhelm, you are fortunate.  You have a true friend.  I have that person in Shelley.  Were tragedy to strike, I would call Shelley first.  She has endless warmth and insight, and no tendency to judge.  I have known Shelley through her own severe trials.  I know no one with more courage and heart.  What's more, she is funny.  Shelley has a gift for seeing the irony and humor in the absurd contradictions of human nature.  She is a natural storyteller, a born seer.  Her vocation is to heal through wisdom and compassion.  I know this first hand.  Her friendship has been a blessing through good and hard times.

In my many contacts over the last twenty-five years with Shelley, which include teamwork in production of books and pamphlets about philosophy and social conscience, as well as extended residence under the same roof in Santa Barbara , California , not to mention an abiding deep friendship throughout, I have admired her energy for empathy, creativity and diligence over and over.  Here is a real seeker who turns the manifold joys and struggles, even the setbacks of life, to the best advantage of others.  I say, and I do, sign on to her voyage.
